October 2026 Astrology: Revisiting What Really Matters
Updated: 19 hours ago
October Astrology
October asks us to slow down and take an honest look at what we value, what we want, and what we are ready to change. With Venus and Mercury both retrograde this month, we may find ourselves revisiting old conversations, relationship patterns, desires, and decisions rather than rushing toward an answer.
This doesn't mean October is a month of standing still. Sometimes looking back is exactly what helps us move forward with more intention. The question is not just what you want next, but whether the things you're reaching for still fit the person you are becoming.
The Major Transits Shaping October
October brings several major shifts that build on one another throughout the month. Relationships and values come into focus first, followed by deeper questions around transformation, communication, and stability. By the end of the month, we're being asked to recognize what has changed and decide what is worth carrying forward.

Venus Retrograde in Scorpio and Libra
October 3 to November 13
Venus stations retrograde in Scorpio on October 3, beginning a period of reflection around love, relationships, desire, money, pleasure, values, and self-worth.
Venus retrograde can bring us face to face with patterns we may have been avoiding. That doesn't necessarily mean someone from the past is going to show up at your door. Sometimes the past returns as a memory, a familiar dynamic, or a realization that makes you see an old situation differently.
With Venus retrograde beginning in Scorpio, we're encouraged to look beneath the surface. Instead of only asking, "Do I want this?" we may need to ask, "Why do I want this?" What are we afraid of losing? What are we holding onto? Are we staying because something genuinely feels right, or because letting go feels uncomfortable?
These questions can be especially meaningful in relationships, but they aren't limited to romance. Venus also speaks to our values and the things we give our time, energy, and resources to.
As Venus eventually moves back into Libra, the focus shifts toward balance and reciprocity. After looking more deeply at what we want and why we want it, we get to consider whether our relationships and choices actually reflect those values.
You don't have to have everything figured out during a Venus retrograde. Sometimes the most important thing you can do is become more honest about what you feel.
Libra New Moon
October 10
The Libra New Moon arrives while Venus is retrograde, making this a particularly reflective time for relationships, boundaries, cooperation, and balance.
Libra reminds us that our relationships are part of how we experience ourselves. We learn through partnership, conversation, compromise, and the choices we make with other people.
But balance doesn't mean keeping everyone happy.
Sometimes balance means asking for what you need. Sometimes it means setting a boundary. Sometimes it means recognizing that a relationship has become one-sided. And sometimes it means accepting that choosing yourself isn't the same as rejecting someone else.
Because Venus is retrograde, this New Moon may be less about immediately starting something new and more about getting clear on what needs to change first.
Where are you giving more than you have?
Where are you afraid to ask for what you need?
What would a healthier relationship with yourself and others look like?
This New Moon offers space to set intentions around relationships that feel more honest, mutual, and sustainable.
Pluto Stations Direct in Aquarius
October 15
Pluto stations direct in Aquarius on October 15, shifting some of the deeper transformation we've been working through from an internal process toward something we can begin acting on.
Pluto deals with profound change. Its retrograde periods can bring our attention toward patterns involving power, control, identity, community, and the parts of ourselves that are ready to evolve.
As Pluto stations direct, you may begin to recognize what has changed beneath the surface.
Maybe you no longer want to participate in a particular dynamic. Maybe your idea of the future has changed. Maybe you're realizing that an old version of yourself doesn't need to make decisions for the person you're becoming.
Not every transformation has to be dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like choosing differently the next time the same situation appears.
Scorpio Season Begins
October 23
The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23, deepening many of the themes that have already been building throughout the month.
Scorpio season invites us to look beneath the surface and get honest about what is really happening. It can bring greater awareness to our emotional patterns, fears, desires, attachments, and the things we may have been reluctant to acknowledge.
And because Venus is still retrograde in Scorpio, these themes may feel particularly personal.
You might notice yourself questioning what you want from your relationships or recognizing patterns you hadn't seen before. Something that once felt confusing may start to make more sense when you're willing to look at what is underneath it.
Scorpio also reminds us that not everything needs to be revealed immediately.
There is value in taking your time. There is value in sitting with an emotion before deciding what it means. There is value in allowing yourself to process something privately before you turn it into a conversation.
Sometimes honesty begins quietly, with being honest with yourself.
Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio
October 24 to November 13
Just one day after Scorpio season begins, Mercury stations retrograde in Scorpio.
Mercury retrograde gets a reputation for disrupting communication and plans, but its deeper invitation is to review, reconsider, and slow down enough to notice what we may have missed.
In Scorpio, this review can reach beneath the surface.
Old conversations may come back to mind. Information you didn't have before may change your perspective. You may realize that something you thought you understood deserves another look.
This is a good time to pause before reacting, especially when emotions are running high.
Before sending the message, read it again.
Before assuming you know what someone meant, ask.
Before making a permanent decision based on a temporary emotion, give yourself some space.
Mercury retrograde doesn't mean you can't communicate. It simply asks you to communicate more consciously.
With both Mercury and Venus retrograde, October's larger message becomes even clearer: review what you think, review what you feel, and notice where those two things may no longer be telling the same story.
Taurus Full Moon
October 25
The Taurus Full Moon arrives toward the end of the month, bringing us back to something simple and grounding: what is actually worth keeping?
After so much Scorpio energy, Taurus offers a different perspective. Instead of digging deeper, we can pause and look at what has already grown.
What feels stable?
What brings you peace?
What has become more valuable with time?
What are you building that you genuinely want to last?
Full Moons can illuminate what has been developing over time, and this one offers an opportunity to recognize growth that may have been easy to overlook.
Growth doesn't always look like a major achievement. Sometimes it looks like stronger boundaries, greater self-trust, a healthier relationship with money, or finally understanding that you don't have to keep choosing something simply because you've chosen it before.
Take inventory.
Notice what has changed.
Notice what feels different.
And most importantly, notice what still feels true.
How to Work With October's Energy
October isn't asking you to force clarity. It is asking you to pay attention.
Let yourself revisit things without assuming that revisiting means going backward. You can look at an old pattern without returning to it. You can reconsider a decision without making yourself wrong for having made it in the first place.
When something triggers you this month, give yourself a little space before reacting. When an old conversation comes back to mind, ask yourself what it might be showing you now. When you notice that your values have changed, let that information matter.
You might even keep a journal throughout the month and write down the realizations that keep repeating themselves. By the end of October, you may start to see a much clearer picture of what you're ready to change and what you're ready to keep.

Want something quick?
One question. Clear guidance. A little reassurance when you need it most. 💫
If there’s something you keep going back and forth on, bring it to a reading with Alysse on Astra.

Aries Rising: Relationships take center stage this month. You may be reconsidering what you need from your partnerships and where you've been compromising too much. Let yourself have honest conversations without rushing toward a final answer.
Taurus Rising: Your relationships, routines, and sense of stability may all be up for review. The Taurus Full Moon can bring greater awareness of your own needs and what helps you feel grounded.

Cancer Rising: Romance, creativity, pleasure, and self-expression are highlighted. You may be reconsidering what genuinely makes you happy and whether you're making enough room for it.
Leo Rising: Home, family, emotional security, and your private life may be asking for attention. You may be ready to change an old emotional pattern or create a home environment that better reflects who you are now.
Virgo Rising: Communication is a major theme. Old conversations, ideas, or misunderstandings may resurface. Take your time with important discussions and give yourself permission to reconsider your perspective.
Libra Rising: Venus retrograde makes this a deeply personal period. Your identity, relationships, values, and self-worth are all part of the conversation. Ask yourself what you want, not simply what keeps everyone else comfortable.
Scorpio Rising: This is a significant month for reflection and personal transformation. Venus and Mercury both retrograde in your sign, asking you to reconsider what you value, how you communicate, and what you're ready to leave behind.
Sagittarius Rising: October may feel quieter externally, but there can be plenty happening internally. Give yourself space to rest, process, and release patterns that no longer need to follow you into your next chapter.
Capricorn Rising: Friendships, communities, and long-term goals may be changing. You may be reconsidering which connections still align with the person you're becoming.
Aquarius Rising: Career, public identity, and long-term direction may be undergoing deeper transformation. Pluto's direct station in your sign can highlight how much your relationship with power, identity, and personal agency has changed.
Pisces Rising: Your beliefs about the future may be evolving. Travel, education, spirituality, and your broader perspective on life may all invite you to reconsider what you once accepted as certain.
October Ritual: Release and Reconnect
Light a candle and take a few quiet minutes to reflect on two questions:
What am I ready to release?
What do I want to make more room for?
Write down whatever comes up without judging it. When you're finished, tear up the first part as a simple symbol of letting go, then keep the second somewhere you can return to throughout the month.
As October unfolds, come back to what you wrote and notice what has changed.
That’s probably much closer to the right length. It still has the Venus retrograde and Scorpio themes of release and reflection, while the second question connects nicely to the Taurus Full Moon and choosing what you want to nurture.
Want to understand your patterns a little better?
Shadow work can help you recognize the beliefs, triggers, and habits that quietly influence how you respond to life. A worksheet gives you a simple place to slow down, reflect, and start noticing what may be underneath the surface.

Your October Reflection
Instead of asking yourself, "What am I supposed to accomplish this month?" try asking:

October may not give you every answer immediately, and it doesn't have to.
Sometimes the most meaningful growth happens when we stop demanding certainty and start paying attention to what keeps asking to be understood.
Let this month be a chance to revisit, reconsider, and reconnect with what actually matters to you.
And when you're ready to explore these themes more deeply, a personalized astrology reading can help you understand how October's transits interact with your birth chart and where this period of reflection may be showing up most strongly in your life.

If this message resonated with you, consider it a sign that you're exactly where you need to be.
