Free plants!
So last year when I moved near Austin, Texas I discovered that there are two free plant exchange coops near me. They are actually in people's front yards, stands made from old dressers and shelves. People bring something like a few pants, cutting, seeds, whatever...and take a few things. I was told there are stands all across Texas, not sure about other states. I always wanted to express my inner "hippie", lol...and have a "Free Store" where [people could essentially bring items and take items, free of charge. I first heard of the idea because there was a store like this in California during hippie era. Anyway, it's on the honor system but people take a picture of what they bring and what they take and post it on the coops Facebook page. I check it out everyday for fun. Some people bring farm fresh eggs,, vegetables they grew, hand made soap, garden items, etc. I love the concept and I love sharing! If I didn't rent my home I would definitely start one in my yard (Near the street NOT in the middle of my yard...YIKES!!!. )Great way to meet people. Probably works better in rural areas. In addition, I think all of us wold do well to engage in bartering whenever AND wherever we can!
OMG I absolutely love that!!!!!!! So we have free little libraries same exact concept!!! This is exactly what we need more of!!! Honestly please share those Facebook posts if you can and when you have spare time .. people that live in Texas can have an opportunity to go and utilize them depending on where they liveā¦right now the groups is still small but I have MANY people in Texas that would definitely use this and greatly benefit from it!!! Itās exactly what weāre needing right nowā¦I will make one honestly in my front yard no problemā¦this is what community is all about š„°š„° thank you so much for sharing!!
